Find the outliers of any YouTube channel

Paste a channel and see which of its recent videos and Shorts beat the channel’s typical views the most. Those are the ideas worth studying.

How to use the YouTube Channel Outlier Finder

  1. Paste a channel link (youtube.com/@name) or just the @handle.
  2. We read its last 100 uploads and work out what a typical video and a typical Short get.
  3. Every video gets a score: how many times it beat the typical video. 3x or more is a real outlier.

What is an outlier video?

An outlier is a video that performs far above what the channel normally gets. If a channel’s videos usually get 50K views and one gets 500K, that video is a 10x outlier. It means the topic, title or thumbnail hit something the audience wanted.

Why outliers matter

Outliers are the closest thing to proof on YouTube. Instead of guessing what to make next, study the videos that broke out in your niche, find the pattern and make your own version.

Long videos and Shorts

Shorts get far more views than long videos, so we compare each Short only with the channel’s other Shorts, and each long video with its other long videos.
